Activities Available

At Ferny Crofts we believe Squirrels can do almost anything that any other young person can do! So we have developed the following range of activities for Squirrel Scouts to participate in:

INSTRUCTED ACTIVITIES

Archery

Archery is a great fun target activity, offering adventure, coordination and achievement to all.

For Squirrels we have a special set of Archery equipment suitable for their size and strength.

Backwoods Cooking

Backwoods Cooking explores cooking on an open fire with hazel cooking sticks.

Bouldering

Bouldering is low-level climbing, without ropes and using your team members and leaders as 'spotters' to aid safety. Bouldering is performed by staying close to the ground and climbing horizontally.

Shelter Building

Shelter building sees participants using natural materials to build survival shelters in the woods around Ferny Crofts

Tomahawk Throwing

Squirrels with Tomahawks!?

Don't worry, we have an awesome set of Squirrel-appropriate Tomahawks to allow young people to have a go at this great fun target sport.

Tomahawks develops hand-eye coordination, accuracy and is great fun!

Tunnelling

Tunnelling is an exciting activity where you navigate your way through a maze of 100 metres of tunnels built into a repurposed bus.

Young people wear a helmet and headtorch, and there are plenty of escape hatches if anyone becomes uncomfortable

Crate Stacking

Brilliant balance, nerve and coordination is essential to see who can get the highest in this activity.

This is the perfect activity to improve communication and teamwork while still having fun.
