FERNY CROFTS INSTRUCTOR APPRENTICESHIP SCHEME
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a 12 month Apprenticeship in Activity Leadership (Level 3 Apprenticeship in Outdoor Activity Instructor). You will be trained to assist / deliver a wide range of outdoor and adventure activities as well as learning about the general day-to-day running of a busy outdoor activity centre.
Ferny Crofts Activity Centre delivers a various activities including; Climbing, Raft Building, High Ropes, Archery, Mountain Biking, Bushcraft, Team Building activities, Tomahawk Throwing, Abseiling and many more!
This post will also require the candidates to work in an assistant capacity across the site to obtain an all-round knowledge of centre-based work. All staff are expected to do their share of cleaning and other maintenance work as part of the role. Training is given in all areas as part of the position.
While working at Ferny Crofts you will be trained in the following qualifications:
Level 3 Outdoor Activity instructor Standard
ITC Level 3 in Outdoor First Aid
A range of National Governing Body qualifications dependent upon the individual and thier aspirations. These include: Archery GB instructor, NRSA YPS Tutor (Rifle Shooting Instructor), Climbing Wall Instructor (indoor rock Climbing Instructor), Lowland walking leader award, ITC Level 3 Learning Outside the Classroom, Safeguarding, British Values, Equality & Diversity, Prevent, Staying Safe, COSHH, Manual Handling, Food Hygiene, Fire Safety
Plus a wide range of in house training, which will allow the applicants to become well qualified in the outdoor industry and help the applicant progress their career.
The Ferny Crofts Outdoor Instructor Apprenticeship is aimed at helping young people develop personal skills, gain experience in the outdoor industry, and gain recognised training and qualifications. The scheme is full time, residential, and runs from December (TBC) for 12 months.

Are you interested in a career in the outdoors? Currently looking for a work experience placement for your school or college course? Then why not look at a placement at Ferny Crofts Scout Activity Centre?
We can offer 10 week placements for college students and 1 to 2 week placements for school students. The 10 week placements are residential and include food and an allowance for other expenses.
We welcome those who wish to complete their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Residential module. If you would like more information, please contact the office to discuss with a member of our team to ensure that we can meet all of your required criteria.

Ferny Crofts offers a range of volunteering opportunities.
Our team of Crofters volunteer on a weekly basis for one morning a week, helping out with jobs around the Site.
We can also offer 2 to 12 month volunteering placements, which can be residential, and includes opportunities for for volunteers from overseas.
