squirrel fun day 2024
We are excited to be holding our third annual event which shall be open specifically for Squirrel Groups based within Hampshire Scouts.
We shall have a range of age appropriate activities for groups to enjoy which are not normally available on site throughout the year, as well as our normal onsite activities that Squirrel groups can partake in when camping at Ferny Crofts.

Event Details
Each participant and leader shall receive a special Squirrel Fun Day badge.
There will a range of activities for your group to partake in and experience throughout the day. Each group will be guaranteed to be programmed onto at least two of our onsite activities which will include Climbing, Archery, Backwoods Cooking or Tunnelling.
There shall then be a a Fun Zone which will consist of a range of fun filled activities, some of which are not normally available at Ferny Crofts, such as a selection of Inflatables Games, a Soft Play Area, Ball Pits, an Arts and Crafts Area, Go Karts, Field Games, Circus Games, Large Field Games, Nerf Arena and much more!
Please note that Leaders shall need to assist their group on some of the activities within the Fun Zone.
Groups can start to arrive to site from 9:00am and we ask that everyone is onsite by 9:45am, ready for 10:00am when the event shall officially start.
There shall be a check in point on the main field and we ask that just the main contact/leader from each group comes to check in to make it easier. If parents are dropping off/meeting group leaders on site, we advise that you do so on the main field by the amenities block.
Food and Refreshments
We shall provide tea/coffee facilities for all attending leaders/parents.
There shall be a lunch break between 12:45-13:15pm for groups to have a rest. There shall be no catering provided during the event, so please bring along your own lunch.
There is also drinking water available on site, for participants to fill up their own bottles.
terms and conditions
Ferny Crofts have implemented a few terms and conditions for the event:

·Bookings must only be made by one main group leader for the whole group and not by individual parents/participants.

Participants have to have attendance booked in advance and cannot just turn up on the day, due to the programme layout and staffing having to be confirmed before the event starts.

This event is open to all Squirrel Groups within Hampshire Scouts.

All young participants/groups must have a pastoral carers present with them during the event. Please ensure that you have at least one present for each group of 15 participants.

Booking are made through our online portal with full payment being due at the time of booking being made.

Refunds cannot be issued once a booking has been confirmed.

Specific event details shall be sent to the Lead Contact on the booking a few weeks before the event takes place.

All participants and spectators of the event must respect and adhere to the instructions and directions given by the event marshals/organisers.

Groups must make appropriate arrangements to travel. There is limited parking at Ferny Crofts, so we encourage all groups to car share as much as possible.
event Waiver

Groups understand that both photographic and video footage will be taken during the evening and shall be used by Ferny Crofts on social media, the Ferny Crofts website and future advertising materials such as leaflets and posters.

Due to the high number of vehicles expected to arrive to site, please be advised that the car park will be very busy and queues will be highly likely whilst our volunteers/staff get vehicles parked. We recommend car sharing as much as possible to help reduce the volume of cars on site.

We shall provide some wet weather shelters and a dining area will be available for lunchtime but these will be limited. You are welcome to bring along your own pop up shelters, if you wold like to guarantee availability during your time on site.

volunteers needed
CALLING ALL HAMPSHIRE SCOUTS
To help us make the Squirrel Fun Day a success we shall require a selection of volunteers to assist our staff throughout the day. We shall need people to help with a variety of jobs such as:

Assisting with some of the activities with the Fun Zone such as Inflatables, Arts and Crafts, Nerf Arena and Go Karts.

Assisting the Ferny Crofts staff within the car park directing flow of traffic
-
Directing participants throughout the event.

Catering will be provided throughout the event for all volunteers.

Camping will also be available. Any volunteers 18 and under must be accompanied by an adult leader.
