fright night Programme
The Ferny Crofts Fright Night will run from 12:30pm - 8:30pm and will feature 4 different
Activity Zones that groups will take part in throughout the afternoon. These will be as follows:
Fairground Games - A zone that has proved very popular over the last few years. These will include games such as Hook a Duck, Hoopla, Tin Can Alley and Coconut Shy. There shall also be a musical Fair Ground organ within this area. Participants will be issued with a small stamp card at the beginning of the event (within welcome packs). Once these are full participants can collect either a bag of popcorn or candy floss.
Ferny Crofts Games/Inflatables - These will include Climbing, Tomahawk Throwing, Archery, Bouldering and Adventure Course. Plus a selection of inflatable games.
Live Performance - Dinomania - An interactive dinosaur show. Participants will learn some fascinating facts about dinosaurs and even get to meet some of them!
Creepy Crawlies/Crafts - we are pleased to welcome back the Creature Teachers to this years event. Get up close and learn about a selection of insects, reptiles and birds. Get creative and do some paper crafts and do some pumpkin carving. There will also be branding, backwoods cooking, air hockey and table tennis.
At the end of the last activity session there will be a 1 hour break for an evening meal. You can either bring along your own food/equipment to self-cater or Jumbo Hot Dogs will be available to pre-order. These will be £3.00 each and Vegetarian, Vegan and Gluten Free options will be available.
Once this break is over there shall then be a large campfire on the main field with music playing, whilst groups are waiting to be sent through the Woodland Trail. This shall wind it way through a frightfully haunted area of the Forest and will have a variety of jump scares and scenes. The trail will then end at the gala tents where groups can collect their pumpkins and be collected by parents. For groups staying overnight, your pumpkins will be gathered after the event has finished and be able to be collected the following morning.
We are also encouraging groups to make Halloween themed lanterns to bring along for the evening section of the event so they can use them whilst going around the Woodland Trail (click here for ideas sheet),
Other activities that will be taking place across the site:
Tuck Shop - a range of souvenirs and badges can be purchased throughout the day.
Catering Tent - A team from Chandlers Ford Scouts shall be on site providing a catering option for attending groups. This will be jumbo hot dogs for £3.00 each which must be ordered in advance when your booking is made. There will be an option for standard, vegan, vegetarian and gluten free.

terms and conditions
Ferny Crofts have implemented a few terms and conditions for the event in addition to our standard terms:
This particular event is open to all Scout and Guide groups and is most suitable for those between the ages of 6 and 14. There will be plenty of activities for all these age groups to partake in.
All attendance must be booked prior the event and groups cannot turn up on the day without booking confirmation.
Full payment is required at the time of booking, and places are non-refundable.
Groups can book camping for the Saturday night only, at an additional cost of £2.50 per person (including leaders).
Attending Leaders must pay £1.50 to book attendance at the event. However, they will receive a Ferny Crofts Fright Night Badge without any additional cost.
All groups attending site must have a pastoral carer with them throughout the event. We advise that younger sections have more leaders attending, especially for the Woodland Trail.
Bookings can only be made by group leaders rather than individual bookings per participant.
Group leaders are responsible for arranging meeting/pick up points with members from their group once they have arrived to site. We recommend the Quiet Area or the main field (next to the amenities block) at the start of the event and the Gala Tents at the end of the event.
All other Ferny Crofts Terms and Conditions and Centre Rules still apply
Due to the nature of some of the activities, we advise that it may not be a suitable event for participants that become easily distressed when they are scared.
We can not guarantee that participants will be able to go on every single activity/ride that will be available. We shall manage queues as much as we are able to. If there is a long queue for a particular activity move onto the next and come back to avoiding waiting around and missing out altogether.
To help participants get through activities quicker the volunteers and Ferny Crofts staff will need the assistance of attending leaders to help the participants in their group. This especially applies to activities such as pumpkin carving and Arts and Crafts.
For groups that have attended past Fright Nights, please note that the 2022 event shall be a very similar in layout to past events and the majority of the activities available will be the same.
The Woodland trail will take place when it is dark and will feature various scary scenes with jumps and scares as well as flashing lights and loud noises.
There will be avoidance routes put in place during the trail for leaders to take participants through if necessary. However, groups must ensure that there is still a pastoral carer present with the rest of the group.
We can not guarantee that every participant will be scared enough as some will find it too scary. There is a wide spectrum to cater for and it is impossible to ensure that we cater for each individual. However, we do try our best to have a range of scenes with a variety of fear factor levels.
